The Portcast platform offers you multiple way to upload your shipments, either via API or Web Application, and for Ocean and Air shipments. In order to allow you to view your usage easily for all these types of shipments and upload methods, Portcast provides a centralized place: the Usage Dashboard.
What can the Usage Dashboard be used for?
There are multiple use cases that the Usage Dashboard can serve:
- Monitor and control your tracked containers and MAWBs volume: the usage dashboard includes charts on the evolution of the number of containers and MAWBs that your Org manages using the Portcast platform. Since the number of containers and MAWBs is closely related to the billing rules, you can use this to estimate and monitor your spend.
- Monitor the BL/Booking uploads: for customers using BL/Booking based uploads, the Usage Dashboard also reports on the number of uploads using this method. You can also filter by a certain period and understand which containers were generated through those upload operations.
- View the list of shiments uploaded in a certain period: using time filtering, you can understand which containers and MAWBs were specifically uploaded in a determinate time range, and what methods were used to upload them. This can help you streamline your upload operations and the way your team uses the platform.
- View per sub-Org statistics: for customers that use a Master Org and Sub-Org structure, the Usage dashboard gives you the possibility to view Master Org-level stats (containing all shipments uploaded in every sub-Org), or drill-down by Sub-Org, allowing you to understand granular usage and patterns, as well as optimize usage.
- View your Portcast contract data specifics: the Usage Dashboard includes information on your contract, including which features you currently have enabled or disabled, the periodicity and conditions of your billing, key contract dates, minimum volumes and pricing information.
How can the Usage Dashboard be accessed?
The Usage Dashboard is available via the Portcast Web Application. Just go to the left sidebar navigation, click on “Analytics”, then “Usage Dashboard”. The following screen should display:

Example of what the Usage dashboard looks like. Note the per-period container uploads and distribution that should display by default. Your information will look slightly different, depending on your Org’s metrics.
You can then use the top right buttons to access different sections. We dig a bit deeper into the features included in each of these sections below.
