Overview

Portcast expands its range of programmatic APIs and offers an easy to use Port Congestion API that covers all major ports globally. This API empowers supply chain and logistics teams to proactively manage disruptions, optimize port calls, and reduce demurrage and detention costs.

Feature description

Portcast’s Port Congestion dataset is generated by constantly monitoring Container vessels’ activity into, inside, and out of ports; this allows the generation of a number of different metrics that can help industry experts understand disruptions and activity levels inside ports.

This dataset, available on our UI so far, is now also available via an easy-to-use API that delivers the same data available so far in a programmatic fashion. Additionally, Portcast now offers, as part of the congestion API dataset which is delivered via the API, a new metric called “Port Congestion Category”. This is a human readable index that classifies port congestion levels onto predefined levels for quick classification, based on weekly activity levels for a specific port.
