The Booking tracking section of the Portcast Web Application is an alternative way of browsing and tracking your uploaded containers. While the Container view displays information for a container tracking details, the Booking view allows you to view your containers aggregated by a specific Booking or Bill of Lading.

In this guide we will dive into how to use the single Booking view to analyze and track specific BLs/Bookings and all the underlying containers therein. Understanding the single Booking view

The single booking view is displayed once you access one of the previously uploaded BL/Bookings in your Org. Each BL/Booking can contain a variable number of associated containers; Portcast updates each container individually, and the Booking view regroups that information under a single view.

This is especially interesting for customers that track multiple containers under one BL/Booking number, and for customers that regularly upload via BL/Booking numbers, either via API or Container upload methods.

In the Booking view, one has access to several sections of BL/Booking relevant information:

• Title bar Contains the Booking number, status of the BL/Booking (Arrived, Delayed…) and route from POL to POD, including transshipment ports
• Information cards
  • “ETA/ETD” card: Contains the estimated (or actual if the shipment has arrived) time of arrival and departure
  • “Carrier & Latest Vessel” card: Contains the carrier’s SCAC code, and the vessels carrying the shipments. You can also see all associated shipments in the same vessel, beyond the BL/Booking number.
  • “Created/Updated On” card: Indicates the dates of creation of the Booking/BL on the platform, as well as the last data update
  • “Voyage” card: Contains the voyage number(s) associated with the container(s) on the BL/Booking
• Content tabs
  • Containers tab: includes the list of all containers associated with the BL/Booking and uploaded into your Org. The design and included information mimics the Single container view information, and includes similar relevant columns. For single voyage contents, the column information will be repeated on every container; in the case of multi-voyage BL/Booking (where the contents are split due to a roll-over, for example) they will vary per container.
  • Route: displays a map view of the route undertaken by the carrier vessel(s) of the container(s). Typically will show one route (ideal vs actual), but can display multiple actual routes depending on whether the shipment is split.
  • Conversations: allows collaboration under the BL/Booking context with member of your team, via chat or mentions.

Sharing a single Booking page

The single booking page includes a sharing feature that allows you to share the contents of that page with members of your team, or customers, without having to add them onto your Portcast Org account. To do this, you can click, on the top right of the page, on the “Share” button; this will automatically copy the sharing link to your clipboard, allowing you to then paste it into whatever platform via which you want to share it (email, social network, word doc…).
